If you would like to get together with others from the area to bring and work on a non-messy craft project while having a natter and a cuppa – or just for a natter – you are most welcome to do so on the third Wednesday of every month at St. John’s Church in Bellingdon from 2.30pm – 4pm. The next dates are:
Wednesdays January 17, February 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18, October 16, November 20, December 18 2024
History and Culture Club
The second meeting of the History and Culture Club will take place in St. John’s Church in Bellingdon at 11.30am on Saturday 27 January. This will again be based on local history – this time we’d like people to bring and talk about something linked to the history of the area such as an artefact, information about a house in Bellingdon, or something written in and about the area.
The meeting after that will have a different slant – it will be about an overland journey from Bellingdon to the Sahara Desert and will dip into various cultures experienced during that journey as well as giving a few travel tips! It will take place on April 27 at 11.30am in St. John’s.
We would love to welcome you to these events!
We would like to welcome everyone to our traditional Christmas Eve carol service – back at Huge Farm by kind permission of Anka and John Taylor – for the first time since 2019. The service will begin at 4pm so please arrive in good time; there will be readings by children from the village, plenty of carols and refreshments afterwards.
Mince pies gratefully received on the day – please let Anka know if you’re able to provide some. There is no parking on site so please use the village hall car park or St John’s Church car park and walk the short distance to Huge Farm. When walking, please make sure you are well lit and have children under close supervision so everyone stays safe.
At St. John’s Church we are holding a regular ‘Tea and chat’ get-together in the church on the second Wednesday of each month at 2.30 pm. The next one will be on Wednesday 14 December. It’s a chance for people to get together and literally have a chat with others. Quite a bit of reminiscing took place at the last meeting! Anyone is most welcome to come.
Our regular carol service will be in the church on Sunday 18th December at 10am – please do join us, you will be most welcome, even if you haven’t been before.

Finally, we are going to hold a short candlelit service at 4pm on New Year’s Day. This will be instead of our usual 10.00 service which will not take place on that date. Again, anyone is most welcome.
Dear all
Here are the details for the service for Sunday 18th July – for St John’s Bellingdon.
Our Psalm is Psalm 23 and the reading Mark 6: 30-34,53-end read by Chris Davies with the intercessions led by Marjorie.
It is on the Parish YouTube channel and this link should take you there
As usual the service is available after 09.45 on Sunday.
The format is the same as the last few weeks to fit in with the service in the church building. The contents of the recorded service and the one in the church are basically the same and a copy (in fact two copies) of the order of service are attached.
For those watching the recording, printing a copy would be useful – the ‘booklet’ version should be printed double sided and when folded will be the order of service. If that’s a problem the other version will print so that you have the content. Having your bible to hand might also be good.
As you’ll hear in the recording this week is our last online service for the foreseeable future! We’re planning to meet in the church building each Sunday and look forward to seeing many of you there. St.Mary’s and Emmanuel will continue to livestream their services on YouTube and they will be available after as recordings. There will also be a service livestreamed by the Church of England each week.
We’re hoping that we might be able to start singing and talking together but it’s clear we’ll need to continue to take care. I’ll send an update next week once the parish staff team have discussed the guidance from the Diocese.
With prayers and best wishes to you all. Take care
Tim and Fionnagh
