Preparations for this year’s fete are speeding ahead and hopefully you are as excited about it as we are. Don’t forget to put the date in your diary – Saturday 30th June!
We always need helpers on the day so please do let us know if you can help – on a stall, with car parking, the kiddies’ corner, baking cakes, pulling pints or flipping burgers. There are many roles available and most of them are good fun, so don’t be shy.
If you would like to run your own stall, there is a small set fee for this and the contact for these stalls is Jules Eyles. We welcome stalls selling things like homemade jams, cards, art… anything you feel you may be able to sell.
This event relies exclusively on volunteers and is a lovely community day out. Funds raised by the fete go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the hall and grounds – such as the recent kitchen and bar upgrade which hopefully you will get a chance to see.
Our partner charity is the wonderful Chilterns Dog Rescue Society. There are a number of fun categories such as waggiest tail, Handsomest Dog… so start getting your pooch ready now. We are also looking for someone who may want to run the dog show next year and would be up for being trained up this year in advance…
Email us at fete@bellingdon.com if you’re able to help man a stall, help with set up or with pre-arrangements; or want to get involved in any way. You are more than welcome!
We hope you think that our monthly email provides interesting and valuable information about what is going on in and around Bellingdon & Asheridge (if you’re wondering “what monthly email?” then sign up and see for yourself!). If you do already receive it and would like to continue doing so then please read on.
Owing to changes in data protection law, we are required to have specific permission to send you these emails every month. As of June 2018 we will no longer be able to send the emails to anyone who hasn’t specifically given their consent.
You can sign up to ensure you receive the emails from June and beyond (and we really hope you do!). Your information will only ever be used for these monthly emails.
You are, of course, free to unsubscribe at any time, using the link at the bottom of the email.
What a fantastic turnout for the March pub night! The hall looked fabulous and we made good use of all the new kit in the kitchen and bar. It was fantastic that many of the trades who did the majority of work on the hall refurbishment were able to join us and see it in action.
The next pub night will be on 20th April (not 27th as advertised in the newsletter owing to a clash of dates with another booking). As usual all and any offers of assistance are very welcome – either during setup, on the evening or clearing up afterwards. Please speak to one of the committee if you’re able to help or email contact@bellingdon.com
We’ll have all the usuals – great home cooked food, pub games, alcoholic and soft drinks and a chance to meet and chat to your neighbours.
The next pub night will be on May 18th, but there won’t be one in June because of the village fete.
Are you taking exams this summer? Terrified about the prospect of the spoken part? One of our lovely villagers, Jane, is offering one run-through of a spoken French or German exam (both languages at GCSE or French at AS or A level) for free to anyone in the village who is taking the exams this summer.
Her job is teaching languages. She teaches the AQA board and so would need a bit of help with the exact requirements of other boards. If anyone would be interested and meets the criteria they should email Jane directly to organise.
